This a pretty good primer on the state of sheet music collecting. But read carefully. The key sentence is: “Most sheet music sells for $5 or less, even in good condition.” Just like records, most people bought “the hits” and the popular songs, which are still common – and inexpensive – today.

Rare Vintage Music Typewriter Lets You Type Sheet Music
A very interesting – and rare – artifact from an era when everything was thought to be improved with technology. (Sound familiar?) The problem with a typewriter for typing music notes is, 1) A composer or songwriter probably would not be able to use the machine for actual creative writing; the mechanics would be too alienating. And, 2) even if a score was typed with this machine, it would still need to be typeset for printing. So, alas, they call this “abandonware.”

Years ago, someone came up with the idea of releasing a 45 rpm record of total silence. The thinking was that you could select this record in a jukebox and get some relief from everyone else’s bad music. Well, here we are again, only this time, it’s a “meditation” disc. Either way, it’s a blessed silence.
